Chairman
seeks IIMB society help
HRD
minister Murali Manohar Joshi may have jumped the gun by suggesting
that IIM-Bangalore had decided to accept the fee-cut. But the matter
appears no closer to resolution with the IIMB board of governers’
chairman S M Datta deciding to refer the issue to the IIMB Society.
A meeting of the Society is, however, unlikely to be held this week,
given that the society rules require a minimum 15-day notice to be
given to the members. This effectively puts the meeting in early May.
Society members include donors and members of the IIMB board of the
governors.
”Yes we have received the communication from the chairman. Now it is
left to the Society to take a decision,”
It maybe recalled that the board of governors of the institute had
decided to allow Mr. Datta’s decision is available, there is a view
that Mr. Datta wanting to play safe (the faculty of IIM, Calcutta have
voiced their opposition to the IIMC chairman of Board of Governor, Mr.
Yogi ‘s Deveshwar decision to go along with the ministry’s
decision) has chosen to make the Society take a call on the issue.
