IIM directors reach consensus on fees

The directors of the six Indian Institutes of Management who met here today are said to have finalised a uniform fee structure for all the IIMs.

Refusing to give out any details of the "proposal" they were asked to formulate by the Union Human Resource Development Minister, Arjun Singh, the directors, however, dropped enough hints to indicate that they would suggest a uniform fee structure for all the institutes.

At the end of the meeting, the six directors made only a brief joint statement at a media conference and declined to entertain any questions. Whatever the conclusion the meeting arrived at would first have to be discussed with the Secretary of the Union HRD Ministry on June 8, they said.
