23% IIMB students to intern abroad

Indian Institute of Management(IIM) Bangalore has created history of sorts by placing a record 23% or 43 students of its class of 2006 overseas for their forthcoming summer internship. This is the highest percentage achieved across all IIMs, the institute said today.

Overseas internship locations include New York, London, Munich, Hamburg, Bonn, Singapore, Tokyo & Hong Kong. The stipend offered to the students for domestic locations varied between Rs.6,000- 75,000 per month, while for overseas offers it was as high as $7,000 per month. The other acivement for the 30-year old institute has been the fact that all internship placements were completed within three days of the placement session commencing.
