IIM Lucknow to have a Noida address soon

The Indian Institute of management, Lucknow, will be starting a campus in Sector 62 of Noida. The preliminaries are over and the first batch of 60 students for a two-year MBA course for executives will be admitted in July this year.

According to Professor Devi Singh, Director, IIM, Lucknow: “For a while now, the institute has been toying with the idea of starting programmes for experienced people. This could not have taken off in a big way in a place like Lucknow and we were considering the metros, Delhi, because of its easy distance from here, was a perfect choice.”

He added that the institute decided to set up a campus in Noida and not in the heart of the capital because “it’s difficult to get that kind of resources and land in Delhi.  Where in Delhi will one get 20 acres of land to set up a campus?  And I am not sure even if the land had been there, whether we could afford it.  “Moreover, he says, since the mother institute is in UP, procuring land there rather than in a neighboring state “was easier”.

Apart from the MBA course for executives, the Noida campus will conduct a part-time MBA programme of three years duration and several management development programmes, each lasting for a few weeks.  At its full capacity, the new campus will be able to absorb a total of 800 students in its various programmes.
