The Indian School of Business announces  the Inaugural of
‘The Global Institute Forum’

Professor Bhagwan Chowdhry, who has started this Initiative, is the Professor of Finance at the UCLA. He is also the Area Leader for Finance at the ISB and is currently on a sabbatical at the ISB. Speaking about TGIF@ ISB , Professor Chowdhry said ‘ This Forum brings together friends of the ISB with the ISB Faculty, Students, Staff, and Alumni to discuss and brainstorm on ideas, opinions and challenges in our community, our country and our world.”

This Forum is a part of a larger initiative, The Global Institute (GI), which is an initiative to promote deeper integration of existing think tanks and centers of excellence in training and policy-related research in transition and developing countries. It also aspires to initiate and nurture new think tanks around the world in areas where research and its integration with policymaking has been limited. GI is a joint initiative of three global leaders in policy-related research: The Brookings Institution, The World Bank, and Center for Economic Policy Research in London. As a first step towards building the Global Institute, a set of institutions in the transition countries will join together in a core network. The Indian School of Business (ISB) and the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) are two institutions in India who have joined this network.

We invite  you  to ‘The Global Institute Forum’ (TGIF@ISB) at the ISB campus on Friday, May 6, 2005 from 3 to 5pm.The session will be moderated by Vijay Mahajan from BASIX. The topic for this session is “How do the poor manage risks in their lives?”
