Management
… a saga
By RajSekhar Mandal
Thirty
thousand years ago human beings came to earth, twenty thousand
years ago nothing really changed. Ten thousand years ago agriculture
started. Five hundred years ago science and technology began .two
hundred and fifty years ago socialism and communism developed,
and in the last hundred years management developed …irks, Sharu
Ragnekar at a seminar" better management" recently held at the
National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management, MANAGE
Hyderabad. In the 21st century squeezing and pressuring workers
cannot achieve productivity. The mantra in the new era for success
is quality and productivity .In order to achieve this manager
should navigate like a fish against the currents and not sway
along like a cork. Managers are always criticized by owners as
well as by laborers and workers; It is noteworthy that results
are not produced by skills but by wills. Emphasis to stick to
Time Discipline, Method Discipline and Motivation Discipline should
be made as these are the three work related problems for productivity.
Team building requires handling its three "E" problems, like Ego,
Envy and Expectation. In an organization existence sense of Mission,
sense of Action, and sense of loyalty is of prime importance.
Sense of mission gives Morale, sense of action gives feeling of
urgency and sense of loyalty gives fearing to hurt somebody. The
Deepsikha Managers, the managers of 21st century should imbibe
on them involvement, commitment and ownership. They should have
freedom to interact, sense of belongingness and sense of responsibility.
Belief in what he sees and what has been done or achieved should
take precedence rather than pondering over what would be done.
The quest for managerial excellence should be the only motto than
trying to impart knowledge in him.
