Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration and Management Sciences The first Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration and Management Sciences, instituted by Lal Bahadur Shastri Insitute of Management (LBSIM), Delhi, for the year 1999 has gone to Prof C. K. Prahalad, Professor of Business Administration, University of Michigan Business School, USA. He has been selected for his outstanding contribution in the area of 'Corporate Strategy' and the 'Role of Value Addition by Top Management in large and diversified Multinational Corporations'. The honour carries a cash award of Rupees One Lakh, a Citation and a Plaque. The award was given by his Excellency Shri K. R. Narayanan, President of India on September 30, 2000 in New Delhi. Prof C. K. Prahalad's name has been inscribed on the Roll of Honour of LBSIM, Delhi, and he is designated as Lal Bahadur Shastri Fellow. For the second prestigeous award - Lal Bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration and Management Sciences, the jury comprising eminent persons on the national scene has chosen Mr. Sam Pitroda, Chairman, World Tel, UK, for his outstanding contribution in the Telecom Sector. The award will be conferred on him in Rasgtrapati Bhawan by his Excellency Shri K. R. Narayanan, President of India on 1st October, 2001, the eve of the birth anniversary of late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri.
